The Louisiana Tumor Registry (LTR) is delighted to release Cancer in Louisiana, Volume 13, which provides statewide statistics on cancer incidence and mortality for the years 1993-1997. This monograph is an achievement of the staff from the LTR central office, regional registries, hospital registries, and other reporting facilities throughout Louisiana and central registries from neighboring states. These data have met the rigorous criteria of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries for completeness of reporting, non-duplication ofrecords and internal consistency among data items. The data in this volume provide an accurate, meaningful description of cancer incidence and mortality in the state.
