Abstract
The effect of sonic boom on hearing was studied by exposing guinea pigs to intense low-frequency tones. Low frequencies were found to affect cochlear function and structure; however, it was concluded that the typical sonic boom does not contain low frequencies of sufficient intensity to damage the cochlea.
