LSUHSC Hurricane Katrina Archive: Facilities Updates

LSUHSC Department of Property and Facilities Management issued daily and biweekly updates from September/October 2005 through January 2012. These updates detail the damage to LSU Health Sciences Center Downtown and Dental Campuses, which occurred due to the catastrophic flooding of New Orleans when the federal levee system failed during Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005.

These updates were posted on the campus website and are archived at Archive.org (https://web.archive.org/web/20140209034042/http://lsuhsc.edu/facilities/). The Biweekly updates were also sent as emails to all faculty, staff and students. The goal was to keep everyone up to date on the progress of restoring the campuses in New Orleans.

While the updates ended in January 2012 due to administrative personnel changes, most of the 1st floors on campus did not open for use until later that year. And the last capital expenditure to restore the campuses to their pre-Hurricane Katrina state occurred in 2021.

This collection of LSUHSC Facilities Updates is in process and will grow to include all years.

Every effort has been made to make these archived files as accessible as possible. Please email DigitalScholar@lsuhsc.edu if you encounter any issues.
