Biographical Information
Theresa Hausmann (1846-1924) was the matriarch of the Hausmann family who owned a silver factory and jewelry business. She ran the business alone after the death of her husband in 1878, and was joined by her sons in the 1890s. Hausmann's was in business into the 1980s.
Historical Information
Clock was originally donated to Charity Hospital in 1913. It was in the 1830s Charity Hospital until it was moved to the 1930s Charity Hospital where it stood until 2006. After Hurricane Katrina, the clock was moved to Baton Rouge for safe keeping. It was on display in the rotunda of the Old State Capitol in 2008.
It was returned to New Orleans and the LSUHSC Campus in September 2024.
