The Usher Syndrome in Louisiana Symposium is held biennially in partnership with UL Lafayette Biology Department. Usher Syndrome is a genetic form of deaf-blindness that came with the Acadians who migrated to Louisiana and created the largest population of deaf-blind citizens in the United States. The symposium includes ongoing discussions on the diagnosis and treatment of Usher Syndrome and the progress of research to develop therapies for vision loss for those with Usher Syndrome.
