Abstract
Nevus sebaceous is a congenital organoid hamartoma of the pilosebaceous unit and is considered part of a spectrum of epidermal nevi arising from postzygotic genetic mosaicism. Activating mutations in HRAS or KRAS have been identified in lesional keratinocytes, leading to constitutive activation of downstream signaling pathways, including the MAPK and PI3K pathways, and resulting in abnormal adnexal proliferation.
