Abstract
In this chapter, we review extant literature related to more prosaic “normal” opponent process topics. Each topic has engendered limited research or hypothesis generation as opponent processes albeit the subjects of exercise and eating have produced some noteworthy findings. Test anxiety is probably something all have experienced to some degree. Work and job performance issues as well as facial expression aftereffects are in the main speculative; blood donation and breastfeeding have single published empirical studies. Nevertheless, all subjects in this chapter provide data that at least supplement the opponent process literature. In particular, research on physical exercise includes a cognitive extention to basic opponent process theory and eating/food addiction requires a neurophysiological opponent process modification.
