Abstract
In human embryological development, the great arteries of the head, neck, and thorax all mature from six paired pharyngeal arches. These arches house a core of spongy, primitive mesoderm called mesenchyme. This mesenchyme present in the arches gives rise to the aortic arch arteries, embryologic precursors to the great arteries.
