Abstract

As more is learned about intimate partner violence, many closely held views are being challenged. Same-sex intimate partner violence can be ignored or misunderstood by those expecting to encounter only trauma inflicted by men on women. The lack of awareness regarding violence perpetrated on or between transgender intimate partners can have deadly consequences, especially for transwomen. Sadly, but predictably, the results of this misinformation and bias play out in the judicial system as well.
