The Three Minute Thesis competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy students. Developed by The University of Queensland, 3MT cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills.

The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

The winners of the 2025 LSU Health School of Graduate Studies 3MT Competition were:

  • 1st Place: Riyal Dahal Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy, Mentor: Carmen Canavier, PhD Title: Restoring the Brain’s Flow: How We Remember Our Way
  • 2nd Place: Nour Abbes Cardiovascular Center of Excellence & Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Mentor: Xinping Yue, PhD Title: The Control Panel of Life: When Maternal Cardiovascular Health Goes Off-Balance
