Abstract

Crush injuries are a unique problem in trauma surgery, in that seen and unseen derangements can all threaten the function, the quality of life, and even life and survival of your patent. The management of the physical injury is obviously an integral part of the problem management, but neglecting the metabolic and physiologic derangements can make a successful management of the biomechanical injury moot. These all must be considered, and we will discuss them at length in this chapter.
