Abstract
The article discusses the need for child and adolescent behavioral health clinicians to remain vigilant regarding early identification of substance use, as youth with mental health conditions who use substances are at increased risk for developing a substance use disorder (SUD). Topics include the most commonly used substances by adolescents across surveys, reason that nicotine vaping among adolescents is concerning, and mental health comorbidities.
